Great finish for Spanish National Seniors Tennis Championship at La Manga Club

From June 5th to 12th, La Manga Club Tennis Centre in the Region of Murcia played host to the 39th Spanish Seniors Tennis Championship. A total of 439 players took place in the tournament across the different categories, which ranged from over 35 to over 70 for women and over 35 to over 85 for men.

A name to note this year, was Jaime FuriĂł, winner of the men’s over 75 category, who has won the category over the last four years, added to 12 earlier victories in the over 55 and over 70 categories. Another classic  Spanish Championship final was played by Luis Flor for the fourth year in the over 60 category.

Other great figures at La Manga Club included Ana Salas, who this year celebrated her third consecutive World Championship in the over 35 category and Manuel Sala, who won this year’s Italia Cup, the world seniors’ team championship.

39th Spanish National Seniors Tennis Championship

The 39th Spanish National Seniors’ Championship will be taking place at La Manga Club Tennis Centre from June 5th to 12th. Players will be competing in age-group categories ranging from over 35 to over 80. The winners will go on to represent Spain in next year’s ITF World Seniors Championships.

Tennis Performance Guru Dr. Robert Heller at La Manga Club Tennis Centre

For one week only, internationally renowned Sports Psychology Consultant and USPTA teaching professional Dr. Robert Heller will be sharing his winning secrets with participants in the La Manga Club Adult and Junior Pro Tennis Academies.

Dr. Robert Heller is a qualified sports psychologist and USPTA tennis teaching professional as well as director of “The Wining Edge“. Based in Florida, Dr. Heller provides numerous mental toughness clinics and workshops to tennis academies, clubs and professional tennis organizations around the world and is a frequent contributor to many of the major tennis publications. He works with athletes at all levels to help them fulfil their dreams to be the best they can in their respective sports.

During his stay at La Manga Club Dr. Heller will be working for an hour a day with participants in La Manga Club’s Adult Tennis Academy and Junior Pro Academy courses.

New Tennis Saturday School for kids

La Manga Club Tennis Centre has just launched a new Saturday School for kids living in the local area, where youngsters can learn tennis using highly effective and proven coaching methods. The programme will be running every Saturday between November 2009 and June 2010.

During the classes, they will develop motor skills, tennis techniques and tactics in a social, sporting atmosphere at an incomparable price of just 35 euros per month.

Saturday school times:
10:00-11:00 hrs    4 to 6 years
11:00-12:15 hrs     7 to 9 years
12:15-13:30 hrs     9 to 12 years
